Nepalese democracy- "DEMO-CRAZY"
Former President of America Abraham Lincon once addressing at the dedication of the National cemetery at Gellysburg said, "Fourteen score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth upon this continent a new nation , conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal… we here highly resolve that the dead shall not have died shall not have died in vain , that this nation, under god, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people , by the people , and for the people, shall not perish from the earth. This speech has been regarded not only by the people of America but whole over the world, those who want freedom and progression are reciting as a hymn. However, in Nepal , the situation has been slightly different from others because this practice seems like the myth of Sisyphus.
The god made Sisyphus to roll a rock to the top of the mountain but before reaching its top the rock would roll down. The job was futile and hopeless. Same type of scenario can be seen in the Nepalese politics.

After overthrowing the tyrannical Rana regime in 2007 B.S, people were dreaming of freedom and progression. They were longing for the leader such as Mahatma Gandhi, who would lead them to their platonic world. But the tragedy started to make its space in the life of Nepalese, which has been piercing until now. No one came in front to act as a national hero. The party based leaders were not conscious, with the people's desire. Ultimately, King Mahindra dominated the personality of leaders and established strong and static "panchayat system ruling system".

However, this ruling pattern couldn’t keep its position and was thrown by so called democratic parties in 2046 B.S.Up to this time period, the leaders were as same as before. Miser leaders for the second time took the ruling power by taking the oath in front of citizens that they would do each and every task in behalf of the country and people. Disappointment increased when this was not done in practice. The leaders demonstrated embarrassing form of democracy once again. Corruption in every field, injustice, insecurity, etc became prevalent in the country. Civil war started in 2052 B.S and political instability created environment for king Gyanendra to take over the power in the banner of people's behalf. He ruled for short duration of time until the consensus was made by democratic parties with the Maoist rebels.

The revolution took place again in 2062/63 B.S and ultimately kingship was abolished. New election held and people became eager to find out New Nepal. As usual, this desire seems to be a dream only. Democratic parties have shown their true color as before nothing has changed in the country. The drafting of constitution has already taken more than four years but is not finalized yet. Leaders are fighting for ruling. The theme of 'Unity in Diversity' has been slowly changing. The large groups of people are being subdued from the mainstream policy which is creating a kind of disappointment among them.
Is this a democracy? IS this which is practiced in big democratic countries like America and India ? Is there no nationhood but party hood in democracy? Is there only discrimination in democracy? It is absolutely not. Democracy means equality. Democracy means people where there are no ruled but rulers only. It is a process where opportunities are shared equally and where there is life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.
